Defects
Avoidance Study Continues
With seventeen industry partners, the ACCI is entering the second
phase of a major study targeting the elimination of construction
defects, whose rectification is estimated to represent between 2-6
per cent of all construction costs in Australia.
Marton Marosszeky is leading the research team to develop strategies
to implement these new management tools and techniques on six construction
sites across Sydney. The Phase II study will also look at measuring
the organizational cultures and the level of employee involvement

Virtual
Reality For Hazard Reduction
The ACCI, together with several industry partners, is about to develop
an on-site Virtual Reality (VR) safety-training package for the construction
industry. The technology will ensure that workers will not be exposed
to hazardous environments while in training. The training package
will be available in different languages to improve the accessibility
of safety training for migrant workers.

Central
Coast Update
The ACCI is currently developing performance characterization and
measurement in quality and safety at two hospitals under construction
on the Central Coast. The two projects are being benchmarked against
each other to help improve performance in these crucial areas of
project performance. The project is based on a framework developed
by ACCI, the first element of which was designed to show whether
or not the various actions in the management system designed to
identify problems, are being carried out in accordance with the
plan.
