IGLC-13 Sydney July 19-21 2005

Third announcement and call for papers

It is my pleasure to announce that the 13th annual conference in the International Group for Lean Construction will be held in Sydney Australia July 19th – 21st 2005.

A one-day national conference to showcase leading practice overseas and here in Australia, the Australian Construction Industry Conference will be held on the 18th. Papers on the 18th are by invitation, designed to bring together examples of inn ovation in the application of Lean construction practice around the world.

Abstracts for the proceedings of the conference should be submitted to the organizers not later than February 4th 2005.

This 13th annual conference of the IGLC aims to bring together practitioners, educators, and researchers to discuss industry practices and new developments of theory and applications of lean production in the AEC Sector.

Also in close association with the conference, it is planned to arrange an international two-day summer school (in the Australian winter) aimed at PhD students

The International Group for Lean Construction (IGLC) is an international network of professionals and researchers in Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) who feel that the practice, education, and research of AEC have to be radically renewed, we call this vision Lean Construction. Our goal is to better meet customer demands and dramatically improve the performance of the AEC product development and production management process. Members of the Group are developing new principles and methods, specifically tailored to the AEC industry but akin to notions of "lean production" which have proved so successful in manufacturing.

July in Australia is generally dry and daytime temperatures rise to the low 20os C (late 70os F), a very respectable winter indeed. We look forward to seeing you in Sydney,
