Performance Measurement
The central coast health appointed ACCI, University of New South Wales to conduct a research to improve safety & quality of two hospital construction projects at Gosford & Wyong.The research began with following objectives;
a) to develop safer construction processes,
b) to improve the quality of construction outcomes through improved D&C processes,
c) to develop improved performance measurement practices

Research with Xypex under R & D START Grant
ACCI and Xypex are working together to study the long-term performance of Xypex treated concrete and evaluate testing procedures for permeability reducing admixtures.
The project aims to explore and evaluate the optimal efficiency of Xypex admixtures to enhance concrete durability performance through improved concrete microstructures, and to evaluate the compatibility between Xypex admixtures and selected super plasticisers.

Development of Concrete and Mortar Systems for Structures subjected to Sulphuric Acid Attack
This recently commenced project aims to develop cost effective concretes, which optimise resistance to sulphate and acidic conditions that are commonly found in Australian coastal soils.
These conditions are so common that many substructures to bridges, pipelines, tunnels and building are at risk. In addition the ACCI also plans to develop a general performance based specification suitable for concrete construction in sulphate and acid environments.

Innovation Solutions for Affordable Housing
ACCI is working with Landcom (NSW) to review local and overseas innovations in the housing sector, so that the Australian housing industry may be encouraged to adopt similar innovations in architectural design, materials and construction management/technology for affordable housing.
The study aims to set up an integrated framework of knowledge, identify steps & procedures to adopt this framework, and finally to establish a database of innovation for use by the industry and consumers.

Wall Cavity Siltation Investigation
The Department of Land & Water Conservation has engaged the ACCI to undertake investigations into the siltation of wall cavities and the drying times of concrete slabs resulting from flood inundation.
The results of these investigations will assist the Department to develop guidelines for building in flood susceptible areas.
