The 15th International Corrosion Congress was organised by the International Corrosion Council (ICC) at Granada (Spain) from September 22 to 27, 2002. The ICC congress held once in three years is one of the most important international conferences in the world on corrosion science and research development.
The 15th ICC focuses on "Frontiers in Corrosion Science and Technology" . The ACCI senior research engineer Zhen-Tian Chang presented a paper co-authored by professor Marton Marosszeky and professor Brian Cherry at the 15th ICC. The paper "Spreading of corrosion from concrete crack zone due to macrocell current flow in steel reinforcement" describes the new research findings in the ACCI corrosion research project. The paper provides electrochemical evidences of corrosion spreading away from crack zone in concrete and the findings shed light on answer to the puzzle: why crack width is found in some research work not to affect corrosion penetration depth or corrosion rate of reinforcing steel in concrete crack zone?
People who are interested in this research area may contact Zhen-Tian Chang for further information by email or by phone on (02) 9385 0408.
